EDITOR’S MESSAGE
Special guest editorial
Dear Reader:
Every year at the International Mass Timber Conference, I watch the same thing happen: the show floor hums with established players, while somewhere out there, the industry’s next breakthrough is still working out of a garage or a university lab. That gap has always bothered me — and this year, we’re doing something about it.
I’m proud to introduce our new Startup Exhibitor Program, a dedicated launchpad for early-stage companies new to mass timber. If your company is under two years old, earning less than $5M annually, with fewer than 50 employees, this program was built for you.
Why does it matter? Because this industry thrives on fresh ideas. Mass timber is reshaping how we build, and the innovations that push us forward often come from founders who haven’t yet had a seat at the table. Selected startups receive a turnkey 10x10 booth, two exhibitor passes, and — just as importantly — visibility. A Startup Exhibitor icon on your badge and in our online directory signals to attendees that you’re one to watch.
But the real value is proximity. In four days, you’ll stand face-to-face with the architects, engineers, developers, and investors shaping the built environment — the people who can turn a promising idea into a real business.
I’ve spent years helping companies exhibit, and the startups are the ones I root for hardest. If you’re ready to introduce yourself to this industry, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s get you on the show floor.

HP Traces 85 Per Cent of Its New Lab’s Timber Back to the Forest
Tribal forests supplied 44 per cent of the wood in HP’s new research building, with the project team tracking all of its timber at least to the kind of landowner it came from.
That is according to ZGF Architects, which designed the 225,000-square-foot (about 20,900-square-metre) building in Vancouver, Washington, and revealed the figures to Architectural Record on Friday.
