EDITOR’S MESSAGE
Dear Reader:
Last March in Portland, I watched something special happen. Five developers stood on stage at the International Mass Timber Conference & Expo and pitched real projects to real investors — and three of them walked out of the room in active discussions with capital. More than 600 of you were there to see it. That’s when we knew “The Boardroom” couldn’t be a one-time experiment.
And that’s why I’m thrilled to announce that The Boardroom returns Wednesday, March 17, 2027, from 1:00–3:00 PM at the Oregon Convention Center — and the call for submissions is officially open through Friday, November 13.
Why You Should Submit
If you’re a developer with a mass timber project — commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, industrial, or something the industry hasn’t seen yet — I’d encourage you to throw your hat in the ring. Selected teams get about 15 minutes in front of a multi-sector investor panel, plus coaching from our team beforehand. And if you’re not selected? You’ll still walk away with a professional review of your proposal’s strengths and weaknesses. As Jeff Spiritos told us, this is “the kind of access that traditionally takes years of meetings to build.”
Troy Harris, Jonathan Pearce, and Justin Preftakes are already confirmed to return, with Erica Spiritos moderating.
Let’s Keep the Momentum Going
Every project that gets funded raises the visibility and viability of mass timber. Let’s keep that momentum going — together.
Submit by November 13. I hope to see your project in Portland.

Timberland Investment: The Asset That Grows on Its Own
Most assets need a market to be working for them to make money. A forest doesn’t. Whatever the stock market does on any given day, the trees keep growing, adding wood and value on their own schedule.
That simple, almost old-fashioned quality is why timberland investment has quietly become one of the most sought-after alternative assets for the world’s largest and most patient investors.
